What Is Glycerin

Glycerin is a by-product of soap production, a type of humectant. Humectants absorb moisture from what they comes in contact with.

Too much glycerin in soap (like the clear glycerin soaps) and moisture is actually absorbed from your skin making it dryer. The natural amount resulting from the cold process method of making soap (like Alabu soap) and moisture is absorbed from the air and added to your skin helping moisturize it.
