Natural Soap - Goat Milk Soap - Natural Soap
How Goat Milk Soap Is Made
 |
How Goat Milk Soap Is Made |
 |
All of our soap is made in small batches. Every batch is guaranteed. We allow our soaps
to naturally air cure for at least four weeks. Curing is necessary
to make a mild, sensitive skin care, bar of soap and to allow water in the milk to evaporate to harden the bar
so it will last longer.
Why our soap is different
Soap making is a delicate blend of art
and science. Because of the temperamental reactions of the ingredients
- goat's milk, vegetable oils, and sodium hydroxide-it is very tricky
to create a soap that uses goat milk as a base ingredient instead of water.
More and more people are discovering
the truth about commercial "soaps" (go ahead and read the ingredients
on their labels). They are finding out that they are not soaps but actually
harsh detergents and petroleum products. Detergents strip oils out of
your skin removing the natural moisturizing body oils along with the soil.
It's no wonder your skin feels dry and uncomfortable after bathing.
Commercial "soaps" also remove
the naturally occurring glycerin that would normally be found in soap.
Glycerin is a natural humectant that helps your skin retain its natural
moisture. Commercial manufactures use salt to remove the glycerin creating
an even more drying soap. Once the glycerin is removed they sell it to
other companies as it is worth more money that way. And whom do they sell
it to? To the companies that produce lotions and creams…. The very
same lotions that you now need to apply after bathing because, your skin
has been dried out by commercial detergents!
Handcrafted soaps gently lift the soil
on your skin into suspension so it can be washed away. Handcrafted soaps
leave glycerin and other moisturizing oils behind making your skin softer
and less dry.
After regularly using handcrafted soap
you should find that you no longer need to apply as much lotion and cream
after bathing. Many people find they don't need additional products at
all after using Alabu's soap. So why not treat yourself to a bar of handcrafted
soap…. Your skin will thank you for it.
We use a "cold" process method
to handcraft our soaps in small batches. That is, we do not heat our ingredients.
This preserves the naturally occurring properties of the milk and oils
we use. Goat milk is rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals and nourishing
to your skin. We do everything possible to preserve these properties.
The result; Alabu's soap moisturizes, soothes, and softens your skin naturally.
Try a bar…. We think you will love how it makes you feel!!
Handcrafted soap, beautiful to see and
soothing to the skin. Our soap and moisturizing products have nothing
in common with store bought soaps. Alabu products are made with natural
ingredients. Our handmade soaps feel soft and soothing to the skin. The
lather is penetrating rather than thin and airy. It glides over your skin,
creating a silky layer that protects your skin and leaves it feeling soft.
Our soaps are made in our home, hand cut, hand wrapped giving each bar
that little extra personal touch.
Soap is a little tricky to make and you
need to be careful and take the necessary precautions. If you think back
to your chemistry classes in school, soap results from the chemical reaction
between fats, which are acids, and lye, which is a base. Our soap making
ancestors made a weak lye solution from wood ashes, we on the other hand,
buy lye already made. If you trace this back in history, soap was originally
discovered after the fats from the animal sacrifices mixed with the ashes
of the burnt offerings in the rivers that flowed close to the alters.
While the women rubbed and pounded the clothes on the rocks to clean them,
they found that if they did their washing near the sacrificial alters
that the clothes got much cleaner.
We are committed to making natural bath
and body products that gently yet thoroughly cleanse and moisturize. Our
ingredients contain no artificial preservatives or colors. Most people
with sensitive skin find they can use our scented products with good results,
but for our friends with especially delicate complexions we also offer
unscented products.
Alabu's handcrafted soaps are actually
moisturizing, because you use a little more beneficial oil than the lye
will use up, so the finished soap has absolutely no trace of lye left
and a little extra moisturizing oil left for your skin.
