For some reason that I find hard to understand, we are in the middle of a construction project during our busiest time of year. Since our son Hal had come home from college in May, he has been a wealth of ideas on how to improve Alabu. He has been a wonderful catalyst for Dean who had a lot of ideas of his own but lacked the time and energy to start them. Their latest project has them working side by side in remodeling our production area. I had to laugh when they agreed at dinner the night before Thanksgiving that they would only work until one o’clock when Thanksgiving dinner would be served. This would allow them to have some time to visit with our daughter and her husband who had traveled 6 hours to come visit. We did end up spending lots of time together; I did persuade everyone to take the dogs for a walk on my new favorite walk, the Zim Smith bike trail. I got a lot of grumbling and resistance and was informed that no one goes for a walk after Thanksgiving dinner. But in the end we all went and had a good time, no one even complained when we got caught in the rain. We also managed to fit in some Christmas decorating, baking Christmas cookies and playing a few games.

Anyway Both Dean and Hal have a one track mind and worked on the remodeling project in between socializing. I am so thankful that they enjoy working together and are getting so much accomplished for Alabu. We have plenty of soap on hand and for now the lotion making operation has moved into my kitchen to avoid the dust from construction. So we are all anxious for the new improved Alabu production place to be completed soon. We hope you are able to take some time off and spend time enjoying your family. If you don't find a store near you, please feel free to give our contact information to your favorite place to shop, or if you'd like you can just send us a note and we'll contact them for you!

Bonus Points - What are they and how do you use them?

We have a Bonus Point program for our customers that place orders over the internet. Customers collect 1 bonus point for each dollar in product ordered. So a purchase of $50.00 worth of Alabu products will earn you 50 points. The redemption value of 20 points is $1.00. That is, for every 20 points you have, you can redeem them for $1.00 off of your order. A 100 point redemption would equal $5.00 off of your order. The bonus points are roughly equal to a 5% discount on each order once you have redeemed them.

How do you redeem your points? I am glad you asked. To redeem your points, first login to your Alabu account. After you are logged in, click on "Bonus Points" in the "Your Cart" section of the page. This will take you to the Bonus Points page. Read through the directions to gain a complete understanding of how the program works but in short, you click on the "Convert to a Gift Certificate" and convert your Bonus Points into a Gift Certificate that either you can use when checking out yourself or you can send it on as a gift to a family member or friend.

Our Seasonal scents for Christmas are now in stock

We have had a lot of inquires of when our seasonal soaps would be back and now here they are; Frankincense, Gingerbread, Maggie’s Christmas (Bayberry), Myrrh and Winter Wonderland. The soaps in bold type are also available in 1 oz. guest bar sizes.

Soap of the Month

We have had many requests to have a soap of the month sale, giving folks an opportunity to try a featured soap at a reduced price. This month we are featuring Peppermint. It is one of the oldest known medicinal plants and is used for both medicine and flavoring. Among essential oils, Peppermint ranks first in importance. It is used to relieve muscle pain and breathing problems. Our Soap is made with a healthy dose of Pure Peppermint essential oil for an invigorating wake up call! Super refreshing minty aroma is perfect for those early mornings when you really need to get up and get going. NOTE: Coupons and special offers do not apply to Soap of the Month items.

December Clearance Sale
We are bursting at the seams here at our Alabu workshop, and are still working on making room on our shelves by discontinuing some of our less popular soaps. This month we still have Paradise Retreat at a reduced price, and when it's gone it's gone. We are truly sorry if we are discontinuing your favorite scent, but as we develop new products, we need to make room for them. The good news is at least you can stock up now at a discounted price. We will be making some fragrances available on a seasonal basis. NOTE: Coupons and special offers do not apply to clearance sale items.

Seconds
We have a lot of seconds this month that we have added to our seconds sale. We have increased production on our most popular soaps, and now have a limited supply of seconds which we are going to offer on our web page while supplies last. Our soap seconds are the same as our regular soap, but are made by taking the ends from the soap log and molding them to form a regular size bar. The only difference is that they do not look as pretty. We wrap seconds with a tissue paper band around the middle and seal it with our label. They are about the same weight and size as regular bars. The price will be $3.00 a bar, a substantial savings from our regular bath bars. NOTE: Coupons and special offers do not apply to Soap Seconds.
