Here in the northeast, the long wet spring is turning into a muddy hot summer. The total precipitation for this month is up to 8.74 inches which is a new record for Albany NY . We are fortunate to live on a hill and have not had any damage from flooding. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by the floods.

The rainy hot weather has created a perfect environment for insects so now we need to keep the goats and horses somewhat protected from the barn flies, mosquitoes, horse flies, gnats, and deer flies.

Alabu Farm
It seems everyone likes to look at pictures, so here are a few recent pictures of life at Alabu. It has been especially difficult this year to keep the animals from getting attacked by the bugs. All the rain has created ideal breeding conditions for a variety of insects. On the positive side, we have been able to watch a lot of pretty birds that enjoy eating the insects. We have cardinals, goldfinches, purple finches, bluebirds, a large family of rose-breasted grosbeaks, and the other day we had a Scarlet Tanager stop in for a visit.
