We hope you are all enjoying Spring. We have been anxious to get outside and do some work this spring. The early warm weather brought us out as well as the spring flowers. It is turning into a beautiful spring here in the Northeast. The daffodils are almost done, and the tulips are blooming. We put in new asparagus and strawberry beds, cleaned the barn and paddock, and finished the first pass of spring farm work. Along with enjoying the outdoors, some interesting events are occurring at Alabu.

Soap Seconds
We have increased production on our most popular soaps, and now have a limited supply of seconds which we are going to offer on our web page while supplies last. Our soap seconds are the same as our regular soap, but are made by taking the ends from the soap log and molding them to form a regular size bar. The only difference is that they do not look as pretty. We wrap seconds with a tissue paper band around the middle and seal it with our label. They are the same weight and size as regular bars. The price will be $3.00 a bar, a substantial savings from our regular bath bars
May Coupon Reminder
A reminder! For those of you that placed an order between April 1, and April 16, you received a 10% coupon code in the shipping notification email. That coupon is good between May 1 and May 10. What our son is up to
Our son Hal has just launched a web design company called Axiom Concepts. If you or anyone you know are in the market for web development services, visit
www.axiomconcepts.com.
Hal was home schooled through high school and started attending a local community college at age 16, majoring in Computer Science. Now at age 18, he will be finishing his bachelors degree at a college in TN.
While we receive many compliments from our customers about the ease of use and clean layout of alabu.com, the technical structure has a lot of room for improvement. For this reason, we have contracted with
Axiom Concepts to do a re-write over the next year.
Alabu Chores
One thing is certain, boredom is not a problem at Alabu. Daily chores along with seasonal maintenance and repair keep us busy. Here are a few photos of spring in progress at Alabu.

A loyal customer that provides in-home care for terminally ill patients requested that we make
Neem Soap. He wanted Neem soap because of it's natural anti-bacterial properties. After almost a year of testing and formulation work, we are very happy to release our Neem soap. Thank you Jay for your suggestion and testing work, and for all you do for the people around you!!
"The Fruit from the ancient Neem tree (Margosa Tree) contains kernels which are rich
in oil. From these seeds a unique, cold pressed oil is expelled. This
oil contains constituents which are beneficial to skin. Scientific
research has confirmed that neem seed oil is non-toxic to mammals and
may be a very effective organic anti-bacterial, antiseptic, antiviral, and anti-fungal agent.
"Neem seed oil has been used for centuries in India as a medicine to aid
in healing of skin disorders such as rash, psoriasis, eczema,
burns and acne. It is reported to be a natural fungicide, anti-bacterial, emollient, and astringent which has soothing and skin-toning properties. It is used widely in India in toiletries, toothpaste, soap, and skin/hair care products. It is used to treat skin disorders such as ringworm, eczema, psoriasis, scabies, sores, and chicken pox etc. It can also be used to get rid of lice and control dandruff."
- The Neem Resource
Natural Neem oil has a pungent smell. Our daughter describes it as a cross between peanut oil and garlic. We have been working on a formulation that would reduce the odor and think we have come up with a winner by blending the neem oil with Lavender essential oil. We have done extensive testing and everyone agrees this is a great bar of soap.
